Israeli Woman and Indian Host Gang-Raped in Karnataka; One Tourist Drowns During Attack

Police in southern India have arrested two men in connection with the gang rape of an Israeli woman and her Indian host in Karnataka's Koppal district.
According to police official Ram L. Arasiddi, the victims were stargazing with three male travelers — an American and two Indians — when three men on a motorbike approached them, demanding money. After a confrontation, the attackers pushed the three men into a nearby water canal before sexually assaulting the two women.
Tragically, one of the Indian tourists drowned, while the American and the other Indian managed to swim to safety. Authorities recovered the deceased tourist's body on Saturday.
Two suspects have been arrested, while one remains at large. Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara said six police teams have been formed to track down the remaining suspect. The accused are being investigated for attempted murder, gang rape, and robbery.
