Garage workers were stunned by an explosion caused by an airbag being put in a stove

CCTV footage shows an item bursting with terrifying force inside a workshop in Diyarbakır, Turkey, on March 5.

Four men were inside the building when one of the employees stood near the appliance. Moments later, the inflatable safety device that had been placed inside the stove suddenly detonated.

The stove's lid burst open, striking one of the mechanics, as the others jumped back.

Thick white smoke engulfed the area as the stunned men gathered around, visibly shocked.

Garage owner Sehmus Eryavuz told local media: 'One of my employees threw an airbag, which had been scrapped as cloth, into the stove. They light the stove every morning to keep warm.

'My workers usually burn wood and coal but sometimes use cloth and cardboard as well.

'The explosion was incredibly loud. Thank God no one was hurt—we ran for our lives when it happened.'

No injuries were reported, but the airbag was completely destroyed in the blast.
