From Quinta de Olivos, President Javier Milei supervised throughout the weekend the assistance that the Nation was sending to Bahía Blanca, where a strong storm caused massive flooding and left, so far, 16 dead, thousands of evacuees and serious damage.

The Chief of Staff, Guillermo Francos, maintains permanent communication with the mayor of that municipality, Federico Susbielles, while the Ministers of Defense, Luis Petri, and Security, Patricia Bullrich, will continue to tour the city of Buenos Aires, coordinating emergency operations and the delivery of food and basic goods.

Despite having cancelled several activities on his agenda due to this crisis, such as the trip he had planned to Mendoza to participate in the Grape Harvest Festival, the national leader does not plan to visit the affected area.

Through the Treasury Palace, the libertarian leader did authorize a disbursement of about 10 billion pesos for the authorities of Bahía Blanca, although the money had not yet been transferred.

The measure was announced days ago by the Minister of Economy, Luis “Toto” Caputo, in a message he published on his X account, in which he specified that this amount will be used to repair damages.
On Sunday, Susbielles said that he learned of this contribution through social networks and thanked the Government, but assured that he will need “more than 400 billion pesos” to be able to deal with the damage caused by the storm.
However, according to sources from the Casa Rosada who told Infobae, the Executive Branch would not increase the figure reported by Caputo, which could open a discussion on the costs of rebuilding the city.
At the Casa Rosada they assure that they are willing to discuss the works that will have to be carried out once the emergency is over, to repair streets, bridges and other services.
However, although they are open to negotiating, the national authorities emphasize that the responsibility for carrying out these tasks lies mainly with the governor of the province of Buenos Aires, Axel Kicillof.
