A storm struck homes amid heavy rain in Indonesia, causing widespread damage and disruption.

Dramatic footage shows trees swaying violently as motorists were forced to stop on the road in Bogor City, West Java, on Thursday afternoon, March 8.

A pickup truck was seen reversing while the driver and his pillion passenger disembarked from their motorcycle as the storm continued.

Authorities reported that the heavy downpour, accompanied by powerful gusts of wind, battered the region throughout the week. Dozens of trees fell, blocking main highways and disrupting traffic flow.

In Bogor, more than 300 individuals were evacuated, dozens of homes were destroyed, and a bridge collapsed.

Due to severe flooding and landslides in the region, Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto declared a state of emergency until March 17.

Indonesia and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia have been experiencing the monsoon season, which typically brings soaring temperatures followed by intense afternoon rainstorms. These conditions have triggered widespread flash floods and landslides across the region.
