London police officer admits pro-Israel protesters can stay and threatens pro-Palestine group with arrest
A police officer in London was caught appearing to favour pro-Israel protesters during a rally in support of Palestine where a demonstrator climbed Big Ben.
Footage captured by TikTok user @camille._.camila shows the officer saying: "If you are in support of Palestine, then you are breaching the conditions."
The filmer then asks: "If we are in support of Israel we can stay?"
"Yes," the policeman responds.
The filmer told Newsflare: "This took place near Big Ben in London, the person filming was standing peacefully among tourists and next to a friend for a while (next to police officers without any issues) with a Congo, Palestine, Sudan and Lebanon flags for a while looking at Big Ben where a pro Palestine supporter had climbed on. It happened on March 8.
More police officers then approached and threatened with arrest the Palestine supporter and their friends."
The Metropolitan Police were contacted for a comment and a spokesperson said: "On Saturday we imposed a condition requiring the group of pro-Palestine protesters on Bridge Street to move a short distance to Richmond Terrace. This was done in order to prevent additional serious disruption and was connected with the already wider disruption caused by the man who scaled the lower section of the Elizabeth Tower.
“We recognise the important rights of people to protest and we have no wish to limit those, unless to prevent serious disruption as above. That is why we identified an area close by where the assembly could take place.”
