Tropical Cyclone Alfred leaves uprooted trees across roads in Australia
Tropical Cyclone Alfred left uprooted trees across roads in Australia.
Residents across northern New South Wales and south-east Queensland have been experiencing strong gusts of wind and continuous heavy rainfall sweeping through the region.
Footage captured by Ethan Krok shows a tree blocking the motorway on March 8.
Cyclone Alfred was downgraded to a tropical low on Saturday, sparing the region from the worst of its possible impact that evening.
More than 330,000 homes and businesses lost power, with electricity lines, houses, and cars damaged by the storm.
One individual was confirmed dead, and several others were injured.
Authorities said that cyclones are common in Queensland's tropical north but are very rare in the region's temperate southeast corner, which borders New South Wales.
Alfred was the most southerly cyclone to threaten the region since Tropical Cyclone Zoe in 1974.
