Storylin: More than 600,000 Gaza residents are facing a clean water crisis after Israel's Sunday decision to cut electricity to Deir al-Balah and Khan Younis. The move, aimed at pressuring Hamas to release hostages still held in Gaza, has halted power supply to water plants in the region. According to Israeli figures, 59 hostages remain in Hamas captivity, with around 24 believed to be alive. Hamas has condemned the decision, labeling it a "starvation policy." The ongoing power and water cuts have worsened the already dire living conditions in the Gaza Strip, where residents are struggling to endure the harsh winter. Since the outbreak of the Palestine-Israel conflict in Gaza in October 2023, the territory has been plunged into a complete blackout. In one of the most densely populated Shati refugee camp in Gaza City, families are relying on wood stoves for light and warmth during the cold winter months.
