On 6th March in Neijiang, Sichuan, a car veered off the road and plunged into the Tuojiang River. Hearing the crash, local garage owner Chen Libin and his son-in-law Du Botao sprang into action, grabbing tools and rushing to the scene.

Chen, a skilled swimmer, immediately dived into the freezing river and swam towards the sinking vehicle. Using a hammer, he smashed the front window, creating an escape route. One man managed to climb out, but as the car's front end rapidly sank, he was dragged underwater again. Exhausted, Chen had to swim back to shore.

Du quickly took over, grabbing a larger hammer and a life ring before jumping in. Reaching the car’s rear, he shattered the back window just as the vehicle fully submerged. The trapped man fought his way through the broken glass and surfaced, where Du and a nearby boatman pulled him aboard and rushed him to hospital.

The rescued man is now in stable condition. Tragically, two other passengers were unable to escape in time and lost their lives.
