Cop announced "bomb threat" at NCA All-Star cheerleading competition
New footage shows the moment families were told to leave an NCA All-Star cheerleading competition due to a "bomb threat"."
10 people were injured after panic erupted in a downtown Dallas convention center hosting a national cheerleading competition.
Dallas Police responded to initial reports of a shooting at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, where the NCA All-Star National Championship was being held.
The police say a fight which broke out between two people led to widespread panic, which caused people to rush out of the center, on March 1, 2024.
But, one parent who was there watching her daughter claims she heard gunshots and has footage of a police officer saying the building was being evacuated because of a bomb threat.
The footage shows parents and children evacuating with a police officer saying "there is a bomb threat on the building...I need y'all to walk in an orderly fashion."
A mom - who doesn't want to be named - said: "We were locked in a storage room for an hour, outside the door we just heard screaming."
"We took tables and barricaded the doors so someone couldn't get in."
"A guy in the room got in touch with the police, they told us to stay put and be quiet until they came to get us."
The mom claims that 60 people barricaded themselves in a storage room for an hour before Dallas Police let them out of the building.
Once they were leaving the building, the mom filmed a Dallas Police Officer saying the evacuation was due to a bomb threat on the convention center.
She said: "We were so thankful for being let out of the building."
"Once we got out, the police said that there had been a bomb threat on the building so we tried to get as far away as possible."
"There could have also been a fight in the building, but that is not what we heard."
"We heard gunshots and I was told there was a bomb threat on the building."
In a statement, Dallas Police say that the initial 911 call was for a shooting, but further investigation determined that no shooting occurred.
The police did not respond to questions about a possible bomb threat.
In a statement, Dallas Police said: "Saturday, March 1, 2025, at approximately 1 p.m., Dallas Police responded to a call at 650 S. Griffin Street, the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center, regarding an active shooter."
"The preliminary investigation determined a fight between two people led to multiple poles being knocked down, which caused a loud noise."
"This noise contributed to panic inside the building, prompting people to rush outside in a stampede."
"There were multiple non-life-threatening injuries during the chaos. No shooting occurred. A family reunification center was set up on 400 Lamar Street."
