This is the shocking moment a playful little girl accidentally triggered a massive firework explosion.

The five-year-old child had reportedly found pyrotechnics in a shed and tinkered with them, causing the blast in Guizhou, China, on March 2.

CCTV footage shows the girl running from the building toward her home just seconds before the firecrackers detonated.

Debris can be seen flying straight toward her as thick smoke billows into the air.

The explosion was so powerful that it reportedly blew an iron door off its hinges.

She then cried out in fear, prompting her parents to check on her. They immediately carried her out of the house and rushed her to the hospital.

Local media reported that a piece of shrapnel from the blast had lodged in the girl's leg, causing a fracture.

The child's father said: 'We found out that she had triggered the detonator by pulling at the firework's fuse, which rocked the compound as it exploded.'
