This is the hilarious moment a pensioner struggles to cling to a scooter as it zooms round and round while he tries to park it.

CCTV footage shows the man placing items in his motorcycle when an elderly man appears with his electric bicycle in Shanghai, China, on Saturday, January 11.

The elderly rider is seen walking his bike to the side of the street, intending to park it outside a shop.

A jacket is draped over the handlebars, presumably to keep him warm while riding in the chilly winter weather.

Suddenly, the vehicle starts moving uncontrollably, with the man desperately holding onto it.

He clings to the scooter's left handlebar and back, spinning around at least five times before the vehicle crashes to the ground, sending him tumbling onto the tarmac.

He gingerly gets to his feet and parks it while sharing a look and a smile with the other man with a scooter.

Local media identified him as Mr Lu, who had visited a car repair shop when the incident occurred.

The mechanic later found that Mr Lu's windbreaker had become tangled in the bike's accelerator, causing it to malfunction.

No one was injured in the incident.
