A couple's quiet picnic took an unexpected turn when a pod of dolphins swam just meters from the shore.

Wendt, 24, and her boyfriend Sam, 25, had picked up sandwiches and drinks from Crema Café before settling at Ambleside Beach in West Vancouver, BC, on February 28, 2025.

As the sun set, Sarah pulled out her phone to capture the stunning view but was left stunned when a dolphin suddenly appeared.

Moments later, a pod of at least 10 dolphins followed, with a curious seal popping up now and then.

Sarah, from West Vancouver, Canada, said: "We were just sitting there, enjoying the view when we saw one dolphin, then another, and then a whole pod!"

"Even a seal would pop its head up every now and then."

"They were so close to the shore. I'd never seen anything like it."

"We were so lucky to see them up close."

"It was such a cool experience."
