Deranged eco zealots attack electric Tesla robot... because 'Musk bad'
Deranged eco-zealots attacked an electric Tesla robot in a bizarre protest against Elon Musk - despite him being one of the world's most prominent green energy proponents.
Two Just Stop Oil supporters, Catherine Rennie Nash, 74, a former teacher from Cumbria, and Nigel Fleming, 63, a retired tax adviser from London, drenched an Optimus robot with orange liquid latex at the Westfield Tesla store in London, England, on March 14 morning.
Footage shows the pair climbing onto a podium, pouring the latex over the humanoid robot, and unfurling a 'Just Stop Oil' banner while demanding the UK government phase out fossil fuels by 2030.
As part of their protest, they declared: 'Shut down the fascists. The government is failing to protect our democracy from fossil fuel companies and power-hungry billionaires. I will not stand by and let the climate crisis cause global food destruction, mass starvation, and the collapse of civil society. Shut down the fascists.'
They criticised the wealthy for dreaming of 'Nazi robots and swasti-cars' while calling for 'warm housing, clean energy, and cheap transport'.
They urged the public: 'Don't let billionaires decide your future. Join us this Spring in Parliament Square.'
Catherine said: 'Billionaire Elon Musk likes to punch down. Instead of solving the climate crisis or world hunger, he's throwing people out of work and amplifying hate on social media. He and his pals want to destroy democracy. If you want to fight it, learn to resist. Sign up for action.'
Nigel added: 'Actuaries say catastrophic climate impacts are coming before 2050—crop failures, starvation, mass migration, civil unrest. We don't have time for denial. We need an emergency plan to ditch oil and gas by 2030. Frankly, f** Musk. Join us in Parliament Square to demand Keir Starmer acts.'
The stunt follows growing troubles for Tesla due to a backlash against Elon Musk for his support for Trump. Tesla sales have plummeted amid boycotts and protests, with activists targeting Tesla sites in the US, Germany, France, Portugal, and the UK.
Some protests have turned violent, with Tesla factories and showrooms being set on fire. Meanwhile, a broader boycott of US goods continues across Canada and Europe in response to Trump's trade policies and authoritarian stance.
However, Musk himself is one of the most influential figures pushing for a reduction in the use of fossil fuels and the implementation of green technologies such as solar panels.
His firm Tesla provides electric cars along with solar panels and solar roofs. The company's Energy Generation and Storage unit was responsible for more than 10 billion USD in revenue in 2024.
The billionaire entrepreneur and business magnate also founded SpaceX in 2002. The private aerospace manufacturer and space transportation company is dedicated to revolutionising space travel and making humanity a multi planetary species.
SpaceX has achieved numerous milestones, including launching the first privately funded spacecraft to reach orbit, the first to dock with the ISS, and the first to send astronauts into space from American soil since the Space Shuttle programme.
Musk, who played a significant role in Trump's recent US election victory, recently introduced Optimus, describing it as a multi-functional assistant capable of handling household chores, playing with children, and assisting with various repetitive tasks.
'Just Stop Oil' is a British environmental activist group founded in February 2022 that employs civil resistance and direct action to urge the UK government to cease new fossil fuel licensing and production. Their tactics include protests at oil terminals, traffic disruptions, and high-profile demonstrations targeting cultural institutions. The group operates in a decentralized, non-hierarchical manner, with autonomous blocs sharing resources. Funding primarily comes from donations, notably from the US-based Climate Emergency Fund.
