Pontedera, Italy - March 15, 2025 The weather nightmare gripping Tuscany is finally showing signs of easing up. Over the past 24 hours, more than 500 firefighters have been battling non-stop to tackle the havoc wreaked by brutal storms. A staggering 430 emergency call-outs have been logged across Florence, Prato, Pisa, and Livorno. Rescue missions, flood chaos, landslides, structural collapses, and securing toppling trees have kept crews on their toes. The heroic teams, beefed up with off-duty staff roped back into action, are still hard at it. Specialist squads trained to combat water risks, alongside divers drafted in from Liguria and Veneto, have joined the fight. The worst-hit areas are in Florence province, with Sesto Fiorentino, Campi Bisenzio, Vicchio, Fucecchio, Empoli, Rufina, Signa, and Borgo San Lorenzo bearing the brunt of the mayhem. Despite the carnage, hope is on the horizon as the meteo mayhem starts to calm down.
