A driver described a hellish journey through a dust storm in Texas.

Footage shows a dust blizzard sweeping through Inadale on March 14, with the area turning an eerie orange-brown.

Strong westerly winds carried dust from West Texas, New Mexico, and the Texas Panhandle, significantly reducing visibility and affecting air quality across the region.

The filmer said: 'Crazy times on my drive from Austin to Amarillo today! I've driven in many snow blizzards, but nothing like this.

'It feels like I'm driving on Mars.'

The intense gusts, part of a larger weather system, triggered dust storms and damaged power lines.

Local reports indicated that the high winds also ignited grass fires, worsening the already dangerous conditions in the area.

Numerous accidents occurred across the region amid the dust and winds, including a significant pileup on Interstate 27 south of Canyon, involving dozens of vehicles.

Sergeant Cindy Barkley of the state's Department of Public Safety confirmed that at least three fatalities resulted from car crashes during the severe weather.

Authorities are urging drivers to exercise caution as cleanup and recovery efforts continue.
