Indian airline marks Holi festival with celebration onboard plane
An Indian airline celebrated the Holi festival onboard a plane.
SpiceJet marked the event on March 14, surprising passengers on select flights with a choreographed dance performance to the Holi anthem 'Balam Pichkari' performed by the airline's flight attendants inside a stationary Boeing 737.
Footage shows the crew dancing to the lively music, wearing colourful scarves, while passengers remained seated, with some filming the performance.
Debojo Maharshi, Chief Business Officer for SpiceJet, said: 'Holi is a festival that paints the world with happiness, and at SpiceJet, we are thrilled to kick off the celebrations with our signature 'Balam Pichkari' performance.
'Our incredible crew turned the aircraft into a stage of joy, blending music, dance, and tradition to create an unforgettable experience for our passengers.
'We are proud to celebrate India's vibrant culture with this burst of festive cheer – wishing everyone a Holi filled with colour, love, and safe travels!
Holi is a vibrant Hindu festival celebrating the triumph of good over evil and the arrival of spring, marked by colourful powder-throwing, music, and festive gatherings. The festival commemorates the victory of Vishnu's devotee, Prahlad, over his tyrannical father, King Hiranyakashipu, and the burning of the demoness Holika, symbolising the triumph of good over evil.
SpiceJet is a low-cost airline operating mainly in India, offering air travel to a broad range of passengers and focusing on connecting remote regions of the country.
