Shocking footage shows the moment a passenger coach plunged into a ravine - claiming five lives.

A passenger coach crashed backwards into a ravine in the Haveli district of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan, yesterday (Sun).

Shocking footage shows the moment the vehicle attempts to reverse, and teeters on the ravine edge before plunging 200 metres down.

According to the police, the vehicle skidded off a frost-covered road in a mountainous region known for its challenging driving conditions.

The tragic incident is said to have claimed five lives - four men and one woman - with several more injured.

Local reports say the driver escaped and fled before the fall, and the injured and deceased have been taken to Kahuta Civil Hospital.
