US continues military actions against Yemen's Houthi amid rising tensions
Storyline: The United States Central Command and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth have said that they will continue military operations against the Houthi group in Yemen, amid escalating tensions in the region. The U.S. Central Command on Monday posted a video of a fighter jet taking off at night on social media, saying that they will continue striking the Houthi group without providing further details. According to media reports quoting the Houthi-run Saba news agency, two airstrikes hit Yemen's Red Sea port city of Hodeidah in the early hours on Monday morning. Hegseth said on Sunday that the airstrikes on Houthis will not stop until the group ends its attacks on U.S. ships and drones. About an hour after the U.S. Central Command posted the video, Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sarea released a video statement saying that in response to U.S. aggression, they had carried out a second military operation targeting the USS Harry S. Truman with drones, as well as ballistic and cruise missiles, within 24 hours. The battle lasted for a couple of hours. He said that they had successfully repelled the enemy's hostile attack on Yemen and that multiple American warplanes, which had taken off with plans to carry out airstrikes on Yemen, were forced to return. U.S. President Donald Trump on Saturday announced that he had ordered the U.S. military to launch decisive and powerful military action against the Houthis in Yemen. According to a statement issued by the Houthis on Sunday, U.S. airstrikes have so far killed 53 people and injured 98 others. Shotlist: Location Unknown - Released on March 17, 2025: 1.
