This is the dramatic moment calm a kitchen worker extinguished a pan fire while others panicked

CCTV footage shows a clumsy crew in a restaurant in Dalseo-gu, Daegu when a pan suddenly caught fire in Daegu, South Korea.

Local media reported that the part-time worker was cooking at the time, and overheated oil vapours ignited.

The frantic worker quickly grabbed the pan engulfed in flames and moved it to the sink to try to extinguish the fire.

However, when water came into contact with the burning oil, it turned into steam, causing the flames to intensify, almost exploding.

A composed employee, busy in the food prep area, quickly helped put out the flames.

In a later clip, another store worker rushes into the cooking station with a fire extinguisher to help.

Authorities emphasised the importance of avoiding water on an oil fire. Instead, they recommend covering the pan with a wet towel or using a fire extinguisher to smother the flames. If neither option is available, evacuate the room and immediately call emergency services.
