On March 7, in Jixi Village, Jiangwan Town, Shangrao City, Jiangxi Province, a black car lost control after starting up, accidentally crashing through a riverside barrier and flipping into the middle of the river, landing upside down with three people trapped inside.

The loud splash of the car hitting the water caught the attention of local villager Xiong Jianxue. Rushing out of his home, he quickly recognised that the vehicle belonged to fellow villager You Ruisheng. Without hesitation, Xiong sprinted towards the river, stripping off his cotton jacket as he ran, grabbed a stone from the riverbank, and leapt into the water.

As he reached the sinking vehicle, Xiong saw that the windows were shut tight. Wasting no time, he smashed the glass with the stone, sending shards flying. Ignoring the deep cuts on his hand, he pulled the driver, You Ruisheng, out of the car.

Instead of heading to safety, the rescued driver stayed in the water to help Xiong rescue the remaining two passengers. As the car continued to sink, three more villagers arrived and jumped into the river. Working together, they managed to lift the vehicle slightly above the water, allowing them to pull the two trapped passengers to safety. The entire rescue took just three and a half minutes.

Once back on shore, Xiong and the others quickly transported the three rescued individuals to a local clinic for medical attention.

As of now, two of the injured passengers have been discharged, while one remains under recovery due to multiple rib fractures.
