Farmers used a tractor to catch a crocodile in a wheat field in India.

Tulsi, a landowner, spotted the 12ft beast wandering in the area in search of food in Lalitpur, Uttar Pradesh, on March 17.

He immediately contacted nearby villagers and forest workers to help chase the 15-year-old reptile.

Footage shows the men tying the animal while pinning it down with an excavator bucket to prevent it from attacking them.

After successfully capturing the crocodile, they released it back into the Betwa River.

The forest department reportedly took three hours to complete the rescue operation.

Forest inspectors said the crocodile had likely wandered from the Betwa River in search of prey but lost its way due to the standing crops, which obscured its usual path back to the water.
