Power bank explodes and sets alight leather seats in car
A driver's power bank exploded and set alight the leather seats of his car.
Weerayut Kramonloed was travelling with friends when the electronic device in the centre console burst into flames in Maha Sarakham, Thailand, on March 14.
Footage shows Weerayut and his passengers rushing to extinguish the flames that spread onto the seats.
They poured water from a bottle onto it to douse the blaze, which prevented it from spreading further.
The driver said: 'The power bank was charging when it exploded and caught fire.
'I was so shocked. I stopped the car and pulled over to the side before we all helped put it out.'
No one was hurt, but the seats were damaged and had burn marks.
Keeping a power bank plugged in for too long can cause excessive heat buildup, damaging the battery and leading to an explosion.
Using cheap or faulty chargers can also cause voltage spikes and overheating of the battery.
