Yemen: Yemenis at mass rally denounce US aggression
Demonstrators rallied in Yemen's capital Sanaa on Monday, holding banners and chanting slogans to denounce the new wave of U.S. airstrikes. Under the slogan "Steadfast with Gaza - Responding to U.S. Escalation with Escalation," protesters gathered at the Sabeen Square in Sanaa to voice their opposition to the U.S. aggression. The U.S. airstrikes on Yemen began Saturday evening as U.S. President Donald Trump vowed to continue air attacks until the Houthis stopped attacking international shipping lines and ships. Over the past few days, dozens of Houthi-controlled military sites, as well as dozens of residential houses, have been targeted and bombed by U.S. fighter jets across Sanaa, and several other northern and western provinces under Houthi control. The escalation of conflicts in Yemen comes after Israel halted the entry of goods and supplies into Gaza on March 2, coinciding with the end of the first phase of a ceasefire agreement. Last week, the Houthi group announced that it would resume launching attacks against any Israeli ship in the Red Sea, Arabian Sea, the Gulf of Aden, and the Bab al-Mandab Strait until the crossings of the Gaza Strip are reopened and aid allowed in. Crowds expressed support for the response by the Houthis to the U.S. airstrikes, including the targeting of U.S. aircraft carrier. Shotlist: Sanaa, Yemen - March 17, 2025: 1.
