Chunks of ice float through river as spring thaw begins in Maine
This is the dramatic moment chunks of ice floated through a river as the spring thaw began in Maine.
Footage shows blocks of frozen water flowing down the East Branch of the Mattawamkeag River in Smyrna Mills on March 17.
The flow reportedly flooded the entire floodplain of Oakfield, but no homes were threatened. Authorities said the breakup signals warmer days ahead.
