Climate protesters hit government budget speech in Australia
Climate protesters crashed the government budget speech in Australia.
A pair of activists from Rising Tide disrupted the pre-Budget address delivered by Treasurer Jim Chalmers on Tuesday, March 18.
One of the protesters, Clancy, 23, a member of Rising Tide Magandjin, took the microphone and said: 'Young people of this nation are going to suffer for the rest of their lives. When is Labor going to stop funding and approving new coal and gas?'
Dramatic footage shows one of the demonstrators being escorted by security from the stage.
The Treasurer was discussing his budget response to the effects of ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred when the disruption occurred.
Rising Tide is an environmental group in Australia that advocates for climate action through direct protests and campaigns to raise awareness of climate change and its impacts.
