This is the dramatic moment hero cops rescue a boy found drowning in a pond.

Two-year-old Jonah Wales was playing in the yard while his father and another family member were working outside in Ardmore, Alabama, on February 28.

Ardmore Police Chief Jereme Robison said that Jonah saw a ball in the pond, went after it, and began to drown.

The relative saw the toddler in the water, jumped in, and performed CPR immediately after pulling him out.

Footage shows a police officer running towards the victim and quickly administering first aid to the distressed child. The rescuer was then assisted by his fellow officer, with panicked relatives present nearby.

Robison said that he believes the family member's quick actions made a significant difference and that they believe the boy will recover.

He added: 'More than likely, his actions are going to be the gamechanger in this situation.'
