This is the heroic moment forest rangers rescued stranded hikers in Naples, New York.

Two mountaineers were trapped at Conklin Gully in Hi Tor Wildlife Management Area on Tuesday, March 11, prompting a call for assistance.

The Ontario County High Angle Rope Team and Yates County Rope Team rushed to help, joining Ranger Dormer and local fire departments.

Rescuers rappelled into the gully, secured the stranded pair, and brought them 200ft (61m) to safety as temperatures dropped and nightfall approached.

Dramatic footage shows the extreme rescue operation, with one hiker and their saviour walking up the cliffside, assisted by the team above.

Naples Ambulance crews confirmed that neither hiker was injured.
