Since October 2024, egg smuggling cases on the U.S.-Mexico border have totaled over 6,000. Due to recent bird flu outbreaks, the U.S. has been facing an egg shortage, and the prices of eggs in the country have continued to surge. As prices remained relatively low in the neighboring country of Mexico, egg smuggling has been getting serious in recent months, according to reports from Wall Street Journal and other U.S. media sources.
