A curious puffer fish has become a local celebrity - delighting divers with his playful personality and friendliness.

Steve, as he is affectionately known, has been around for an impressive eight years—long enough for the diving community in Koh Tao, Thailand, to give him a name.

Ella Houston, 25, a scuba diving instructor in Koh Tao, met Steve for the first time six months ago.

Stunning footage shows the friendly fish swimming alongside Ella and interacting with a group of six divers.

Ella says she now looks forward to her regular encounters with Steve.

Ella Houston, originally from West Berkshire, UK, said: "It's crazy that a fish can be so tame and interactive with divers! "

"Most are afraid, but Steve actively seeks us out. "

"I've never experienced anything like this."

"I'm always excited to see Steve. I see him about once a week, and he always comes over to interact with me."
