A bride has transformed her wedding dress scraps into two bags - for $200 - so she could "re-wear it"."

Morgan Hafeman, 26, was left with lots of waste material after having her $5,000 lace wedding dress altered.

Her seamstress, Andrea Richter, came up with the idea to make a purse out of the excess lace.

Morgan was able to take the bag on her honeymoon with her new husband Ryan Hafeman, 28, who works in IT.

After being left with even more scrap she decided to get a new bag made in December 2024 - opting for a clutch style.

Morgan is delighted with the new bag and can't wait to take it on her anniversary trip.

Morgan, a engagement and marketing specialist, from Sheboygan, Wisconsin, US, said: "My dress scraps were really pretty because my dress was all lace on the top."

"My seamstress came up with the idea."

"She'd asked if she could take my scraps and upcycle it into a purse."

"I'm very sentimental."

"We spend so much money on our dresses and this is a way of essentially re-wearing it again."

Morgan's seamstress asked if she'd like her scraps made into a purse - while she was making alterations to the dress - costing approximately and extra $50.

The bride was able to pick up her upcycled purse and her dress in March 2024 - ahead of her wedding later that month.

Morgan then took her new bag on her honeymoon to Fiji.

She said: "It was very special"

"A wedding dress and the whole wedding process is so expensive and it goes by so fast."

"Being able to have a piece of my wedding dress that I spent so much on is so nice - I can take it to trips, dinner and anniversaries."

Morgan and still been left with a box full of more scraps from her wedding dress and didn't know what to do with them ten months on.

She decided to get another purse made - but go for a clutch style.

Morgan said: "I saw the scraps in the box and it made me sad."

"I wanted another purse made."

Morgan found a designer on Etsy and sent off her scraps in December 2024.

She got her finished purse back in February 2025.

Morgan said: "I was super excited to get that package."

"She had put in mine and my husbands names stitched inside the purse."

Morgan is now taking the purses on her anniversary trip.

She said: "I love them both individually."
