An endangered snow leopard cub that was injured after a fall from a great height is fighting for its life.

Ling Xiaozhe, the hapless male wildcat, was rescued in Suojia Township, Qinghai, after villagers found him lying on the ground, paralysed.

Wildlife workers immediately transported the animal for medical treatment at the Qinghai Wildlife Rescue and Breeding Centre at the Xining Botanical Garden, in Xining, China, on March 13.

Footage shows the young feline with its eyes open, unable to move due to the effects of sedatives.

In another clip, he is seen eating raw meat on the ground while a physician cleans his fur.

Vets determined that the cub had suffered severe injuries from falling from a great height.

Doctors said the fall may have caused soft tissue injuries in his neck, thoracic spine, and hind limbs, leading to serious complications such as prolonged starvation and infection.

The cub is still recovering, and while his condition has improved, he is not yet out of danger.

The snow leopard is primarily found in central and southern Asia. It is listed as vulnerable on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species.
