This is the dramatic moment powerful winds flipped over a parked plane as Storm Martinho battered Portugal.

Footage shows the gales overturning the Cessna TU206G Turbine light aircraft, snapping one of its wings in half at the Tires Aerodrome in Lisbon, on March 19.

Aerodrome administrator Diana Dias said the staff on duty noticed 'there were some aircraft taking off' at around 3 am local time.

Three planes were reportedly damaged by the storm. Two belonged to a local flight school and the other was owned by a private individual.

Crews were towing the damaged plane, registration D-EGGO, from the runway on March 21.

Storm Martinho felled trees and lamp posts, damaged buildings, and disrupted public transport as it roared into Portugal on March 19.

Local authorities said they recorded 5,800 incidents nationwide, with the Greater Lisbon area suffering the brunt of the storm's damage.
