This is the shocking moment a brazen jewellery snatch theft was captured on CCTV in India.

Two suspects on a motorcycle attempted to steal a woman's gold necklace in broad daylight in Nangloi, Delhi, on March 17.

Surveillance footage shows the pillion rider suddenly reaching out to grab the victim's necklace as they passed her on the street.

The local was briefly dragged as the thieves sped away, but their attempt was unsuccessful when her friend quickly chased them off.

The commotion alerted nearby shop owners, some of whom stepped outside to check on the situation. The shaken victim was seen being comforted by her companion.

She reportedly did not sustain any injuries.

The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) reported that theft is the most common crime in Delhi, accounting for a large proportion of reported cases. The city also has a high rate of vehicle thefts, with one stolen every 14 minutes in the National Capital Region.
