Devotee crushed by crowds at Hindu festival honouring Lord Krishna in India
A devotee was crushed by crowds during a Hindu festival honouring Lord Krishna in India.
Aerial footage shows a line of worshippers attending the Rang Panchami celebrations in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, on Wednesday, March 19.
Tragically, a 32-year-old man, navigating through the large crowd, fell and was crushed by a tractor.
Additional Commissioner of Police Amit Singh stated: 'The accident occurred as the procession was passing Tori Corner in front of the police outpost. The victim suddenly fell and was caught under the wheels of a tractor that was spraying colours and water. One of its tyres ran over his abdomen.'
Local media reported that this was the first fatality at the Indore event in 76 years.
Rang Panchami, observed on the fifth day after Holi, celebrates colours, joy, and the victory of good over evil.
Similar to the Holi festival, residents gathered to apply colourful powder on one another, while others engaged in dancing and singing.
During the event, locals performed rituals and prayers, seeking blessings from deities, particularly Lord Krishna, for health, prosperity, and peace.
