Driver escapes as five lorries collide in head-on smash causing explosion
A driver miraculously escaped as five lorries collided in a head-on crash, causing an explosion.
Dramatic footage shows two lorries heading up the road while other vehicles can be seen coming the opposite way on the Zacatecas-Aguascalientes road in Mexico on Thursday, February 6.
Suddenly, a large explosion erupts as two of the lorries collide.
A shocked female voice and a surprised male voice are heard in the video clip as one of the lorries hurtles backward towards the vehicle filming, its front destroyed and engulfed in flames.
The driver of the filming vehicle quickly reverses along the road to avoid being struck, with the badly damaged lorry coming to a stop just feet away, as the woman begins to sob.
The cabin of the other lorry appears to be nearly completely destroyed, with the front of the vehicle and the road set ablaze after the fuel ignited.
A man can be seen running up to the cabin in an attempt to open the door as the footage ends.
Local media reports stated that the explosion resulted from the initial collision between two lorries, with one of their fuel tanks being punctured and ignited.
Four people were killed in the crash and explosion, with four others left injured. Rescuers struggled to contain the blaze but eventually brought it under control.
The investigation into the deadly crash is ongoing.
