Truck crashes into electricity post sending it toppling onto road
This is the heart-stopping moment a truck crashed into an electricity post and sent it toppling onto a road in Thailand.
Dashcam footage shows the slow-moving six-wheeler vehicle hitting the post on the roadside in the Pak Chong district of Nakhon Ratchasima province.
A motorcycle rider driving behind it switched lanes to avoid the falling cables and sparks as the post tilted onto the pavement.
The truck was seen emitting smoke while trying to manoeuvre away from the pole on July 23.
Despite being one of the wealthiest countries in Asia, Thailand suffers from chronic underinvestment in its highways and education, contributing to its poor road safety levels. Only a handful of African countries are worse.
Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.
