A driver instantly regretted trying to drive through a submerged road when his car almost stalled in a flood.

Footage shows the driver attempting to power his blue Perodua Bezza through the deluge in Pasir Gudang in Johor State, Malaysia.

The engine roared as the sedan struggled against the current, narrowly avoiding being swept away on March 20.

The driver then manoeuvred the vehicle and emerged out of the waterlogged stretch of road as onlookers cheered.

More than 13,000 people have been evacuated in Johor as continuous heavy rains have been lashing the region since March 19.

The sustained downpours caused rivers to overflow, causing massive traffic congestion on major roads.
