Soldiers continued the oil spill cleanup in Russia today.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MChS) said it is actively working to remove oil products from the Kerch Strait.

Authorities reported that since the operation began, more than 410 kilometres of coastline have been cleared, over 151,000 tonnes of contaminated sand and soil collected, and more than 111,000 tonnes removed to temporary storage sites.

In the Black Sea area, over 10,000 square kilometres have been surveyed. More than 60,000 square metres have been treated with 7,500 tonnes of sorbent, and approximately 25 tonnes of oil-containing mixture gathered.

On the beaches of Anapa and Temryuk District, MChS divers have completed 1,700 dives at 19 sites, surveying nearly 3,000 square metres of the seabed and collecting over 2,800 bags of oil-contaminated waste.

The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations added: '5,500 square metres of the seabed were surveyed using remotely operated unmanned underwater vehicles. Compressor stations are used to wash off the fuel oil. A self-propelled barge is used to lift and load bags of oil-containing waste.'

In Krasnodar Krai, 265 kilometres of shoreline are under inspection, with 150,000 tonnes of contaminated sand, soil, and pebbles collected.

In Crimea, 525.4 kilometres of the coast are being checked, with nearly 227 kilometres cleaned and about 780 tonnes of polluted sand and soil removed.

Officials reported that in Sevastopol, 165 kilometres of shoreline are under review, with more than 842 tonnes of contaminated sand and soil removed.
