This is the shocking moment a cobra slithered towards a hiker as she posed for a video at a nature reserve in Singapore.

The serpent emerged from the undergrowth beside the concrete trail, moving closer to unsuspecting Yeshi Dema, who was making a peace sign at Bukit Timah Nature Reserve.

Footage shows the deadly 8ft reptile slinking across the path and gliding towards Yeshi's leg. The hiker was then wearing long jogging pants and sneakers.

The snake reached Yeshi's white sneakers and lingered there for a second before another tourist alerted her about the beast.

Yeshi said: 'I was hiking Bukit Timah Nature Reserve with my friend.

'Upon descent, I asked to take photos and videos. I was posing when someone shouted hey and pointed to the ground.'

Yeshi added her first instinct was to hop away and dash towards her friend on March 15.

She said: 'I realised it was a snake. I was so scared my whole body trembled. I cried and laughed at the same time.'

Singapore is home to several species of cobras, with the most common being the black spitting cobra. It can spit venom up to more than 6ft. It is usually dark brown but can also be yellowish.
