A driver's plastic bag with bottles and boxes flew off his car and blocked oncoming traffic.

Dashcam footage shows the cargo toppling off the pickup truck as they were poorly secured as it sped along the road in Prachuap Khiri Khan province, Thailand, on June 1.

The driver's personal belongings cluttered the path, and some of the bigger objects, like a birdhouse, struck the front of a lorry.

The objects also hit a black sedan behind it and slowed down with the other motorists.

Driver Peerapong Bongsang, whose vehicle was damaged when he drove through a wooden box, said: ‘My front tyres were damaged, but I didn't charge him anything. I hope he learned to be more careful when out on the road.'

Despite being one of the wealthiest countries in Asia, Thailand suffers from chronic underinvestment in its highways and education, contributing to its poor road safety levels. Only a handful of African countries are worse.

Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.
