A woman has appeared in court accused of attempting to murder her daughter.

Carla Lovejoy, 53, is alleged to have stabbed Isabella Lovejoy multiple times at her bungalow in Guy Close, Broadstairs, Kent on Thursday evening (March 20).

She was arrested following the incident, which left her daughter with substantial injuries.

Folkestone magistrates heard yesterday (Mon) that 28-year-old Isabella remains in a serious condition in a London hospital.

Lovejoy appeared in the dock wearing prison-issue clothing and spoke only to confirm her name, age and address.

She was remanded in custody until April 22, when a plea and trial preparation will take place at Canterbury Crown Court.

Emergency services had been called to the quiet cul-de-sac in St Peter's shortly before 7pm on Thursday to reports a woman in her 20s had been stabbed and suffered serious injuries.

A number of police and paramedic vehicles were spotted in the area while an air ambulance landed nearby.

Into the night, forensic investigators were seen combing the home for evidence.

Lovejoy was arrested in connection with the incident the same night and was charged with attempted murder on Saturday.
