A mum with a lifelong fear of flying asked plane spotters to film her son's first-ever flight as he jetted off on a school trip abroad.

Victoria Briggs, 43, has never stepped on a plane herself but wanted to witness her 15-year-old son's first flight in any way she could.

Victoria, who often watches live webcams of planes at airports, reached out to SDTVLiveAviation—a YouTube streamer based at Gatwick Airport.

SDTVLiveAviation was happy to help and livestreamed Hayden Briggs's flight on March 13 as it took off from Gatwick Airport and headed to Switzerland.

Footage captures Hayden's plane soaring into the sky as Victoria watches tearfully from home.

Victoria, a carer from Portland, Dorset, said: "I feel very lucky that I could not only see just his flight taking off but have captured it for a life long memory."

"I found a YouTube livestream and commented with Hayden's flight details. "

"They were more than happy to help and I'm so grateful. "

"It's a memory we'll always cherish."

"I've always had a huge fear of flying so I don't even have a passport."

"And watching Hayden go off on his first flight made me really emotional."

"You hear so many horror stories about planes these days so I was so anxious when he left and didn't sleep the night before."

While Victoria was nervous about him flying alone, Hayden was excited.

She said: "He couldn't wait to get on the plane. "

"He was the complete opposite of me."

"When he got back, he told me he loved it and would definitely do it again."
