A massive fire ripped through a gas cylinder warehouse in India, triggering a series of powerful explosions.

More than 300 gas canisters exploded inside the Mahalaxmi Indane Gas Warehouse, spreading flames to a nearby field in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, on March 24.

Footage shows multiple blasts inside the facility as flames engulf the premises, sending thick black smoke billowing into the sky.

Onlookers recalled seeing cylinders being propelled into the air before detonating.

Local media reported that the explosions sparked panic among villagers, who fled their homes upon hearing the deafening blasts.

Resident Amar Ujala said: 'The explosion was so intense that fragments of the cylinders were found up to 500 metres away in the fields.'

Police and fire crews rushed to the scene after receiving reports of the blaze. Firefighters managed to extinguish the raging blaze after a strenuous effort.

Initial investigations suggest the explosion originated in the cabin of a truck parked inside the warehouse. The first blast reportedly happened when a cylinder inside the lorry caught fire, causing the flames to spread rapidly.

No injuries were reported from what happened.
