This is the terrifying moment a truck carrying gas cylinders exploded in Mumbai.

The parked lorry caught fire after a powerful blast from gas canisters in Dharavi on March 24, triggering a series of eruptions.

Shocking footage shows enormous flames engulfing the vehicle as deafening blasts shake the area.

Police and fire crews rushed to the scene after receiving reports of the blaze. Firefighters managed to extinguish the raging blaze after a strenuous effort.

Resident Salim Agwan recalled that the whole night sky lit up due to the explosions and flames.

He said: 'Some cylinders were sent flying, and we feared they would land on our homes and start fires.'

MLA Jyoti Gaikwad from the Dharavi assembly constituency explained that the incident was triggered by a nearby car fire.

He said: 'A truck carrying LPG gas cylinders was parked nearby, which led to the fire spreading and eventually causing an explosion.'

No injuries were reported from the incident. However, several vehicles parked in a no-parking zone sustained damage.

Fire brigade officials said over 20 gas cylinders exploded, prompting them to declare a Level-1 fire emergency, which was later escalated to Level-2.

Meanwhile, more than 300 gas canisters exploded inside the Mahalaxmi Indane Gas Warehouse, spreading flames to a nearby field in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, on the same day.

Initial investigations suggest the explosion originated in the cabin of a truck parked inside the warehouse. The first blast reportedly occurred when a cylinder inside the lorry caught fire, causing the flames to spread rapidly.

No injuries were reported from what happened.
