In the early hours of 26 March at 1:21 AM, a 4.2-magnitude earthquake struck Yongqing County in Langfang, Hebei Province (latitude 39.42°N, longitude 116.60°E) at a depth of 20 km. The tremor was strongly felt not only in the epicentre’s vicinity but also in surrounding areas, including Beijing, Tianjin, and Shijiazhuang in Hebei Province.

According to staff from Yongqing County’s Emergency Management Bureau, due to the relatively low magnitude and short duration of the earthquake, no damage to buildings or casualties have been reported so far.

Meanwhile, Beijing’s Earthquake Bureau stated that this earthquake would not impact seismic activity in the capital. There have been no significant short-term earthquake precursors detected in Beijing, and the likelihood of a magnitude 5 or higher earthquake occurring in the near future remains low.
