This is the heartwarming moment a newborn kitten that was found stuck in a pickup truck engine was rescued and adopted by a family.

The driver heard the hapless orange cat meowing as they navigated the road in Nakhon Si Thammarat, Thailand, on November 26.

Curious about where the sound was coming from, they stopped at a gas station and inspected the grey Isuzu car. When they opened the hood, they discovered the distressed feline and gently took it out.

Footage shows the man removing the animal from the engine compartment and carefully placing it inside the car.

The visibly shaken furry creature can be seen being comforted by the rescuer.

The filmer said: 'The cat had no injuries, even though it looked weak. We decided to keep it on the spot and bought some cat food for it along the way.'
