For 3-year-old Cindy Mood’s son, who has Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita, meal times always required assistance. However, thanks to the Obi robotic feeding device, he was able to enjoy popcorn independently during a family movie night for the first time.

Previously, he had to awkwardly bend toward the table to eat, which was neither safe nor comfortable. But with Obi’s battery-powered, easily positioned arm, he could focus on the movie without needing constant help.

This was an exciting moment.

Before we had the Obi Robot, someone always had to assist my son with food. He could somewhat bend his mouth to the table to pick up solid chunks, but it was not a safe position for him to eat. The Obi is easily moved, runs on battery power and can be easy taught positioning. This was the first time my son could zone in on the television to watch a movie without asking for help eating his popcorn. We still stay beside him at all times for general feeding safety, but I had to celebrate this moment which seems small for many, but was huge for us as a family.
