A cool video has emerged of a small octopus using a flipflop and a spoon to build a shelter.

The footage, shot off the coast of Pulau Lonbok island, Indonesia, shows the creature struggling with its precious finds and hiding behind the beach shoe.

"Octopuses are intelligent marine creatures that can adapt well to their environment - and even though pollution with plastic is a huge global problem in the oceans, in some cases trash can also serve as hiding place for marine animals," the filmer wrote online.

Although the video was shot last year it only recently surfaced online.

A coconut octopus (Amphioctopus marginatus) is using a flip flop and pieces of a coconut to build a home. He also tries a spoon, but mainly struggles with the flip flop, until he is finally happy with the shelter.
