China: Chinese rescuers, relief supplies reach earthquake-hit Myanmar
Chinese rescue teams have reached Myanmar to assist the Southeast Asian country in its post-quake search and rescue operations. A 37-strong rescue team set off at 08:35 Saturday Beijing Time on a charter flight from southwest China's Yunnan Province to Myanmar's Yangon, bringing with them emergency rescue equipment such as life detectors, earthquake warning systems, portable satellite antennas, and drones. Also on Saturday, a 82-member Chinese rescue team, carrying rescue equipment and supplies, also departed at 12:50 from the Beijing Capital International Airport aboard a chartered Air China flight to Yangon. As of Saturday afternoon, the 7.7-magnitude quake that hit central Myanmar on Friday had claimed 1,007 lives and left 2,389 people injured, according to the Information Team of Myanmar's State Administration Council.
