A 16-strong team of another Chinese non-governmental rescue organization departed from Hangzhou City, east China's Zhejiang Province, on Saturday morning, heading to the earthquake-stricken areas in Myanmar and Thailand to assist in search and rescue efforts. The members from the Chinese Ram Rescue Team were quickly mobilized under the directive of the Ministry of Emergency Management, as part of China's relief assistance to the two Southeast Asian countries, after a 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck central Myanmar at around 12:50 Friday local time. Meanwhile, a Chinese national rescue team consisting of 82 members and other search and rescue specialists from southwest China's Yunnan Province have also been dispatched to assisted Myanmar's earthquake relief efforts. As of Saturday, the devastating earthquake has left 1,002 dead, 2,376 injured, and 30 missing in Myanmar, according to the information team of Myanmar's State Administration Council. The disaster had also claimed at least 10 lives, and left 16 injured and over 100 others missing, in the Thai capital Bangkok so far, the local authorities said on Friday.
